Wessex Holiday Scheme

Holidays for All
The Wessex Holiday Scheme was founded some fifteen years ago, by the members of the "RAOB" and became a registered charity two years later.
The aims of the charity are to provide much needed holidays and trips for families and children less fortunate living in the Wessex area.  This will be done by voluntary contributions and fund raising.
Thanks to donations from the BBC Children-in-Need, Telethon and TVS as well as other donors, the scheme was able to purchase a caravan (which is situated at Milford-on-sea) to provide those needy families to enjoy a much needed holiday.  For some children it was actually their first holiday.
An appointed member of the scheme's committee prior to any decision being made,
visits all families nominated for a holiday.
The children come from various backgrounds, i.e. single parents, broken homes, the unemployed, handicapped or financially less well off.
In 1998, with the help of a grant from the Lottery, a superb log chalet replaced the old caravan.  The chalet is adapted to take wheel chairs to enable the handicapped recipients to enjoy all the facilities.  The chalet is sited at Church Farm Village, Pagham, West Sussex.  It costs the scheme between £2000-£3000 per annum to run.
Maintenance on the chalet is carried out by the committee members and the chalet has a Gold rating.
